Lecture II in Music Education for the 21st Century: Intersections of Music and Culture

Led by Dr. Terese Volk Tuohey

Dr. Terese Volk Tuohey is associate professor of music education at Wayne State University, where she teaches instrumental music education.  Her discussion will focus on the future of music education in a multi-musical and multicultural society.  What will music education and music teacher preparation look like by 2050?  How might methods classes be changed?  What about music theory and history?  How will technology impact learning and teaching?  What about the place of popular music in the curriculum?  Taking a cue from the Tanglewood Symposium (1967) and Tanglewood II (2007), Dr. Tuohey will speak about current influences in multicultural music education and how it might be employed in the 21st century.

This event is free for all audiences!
