This document outlines the process for scheduling a recital and details the applicable rules.

Petition for Recital Permission

This form is mandatory for scheduling your recital. This will provide the Concert Office with information about you and your recital day and time. Please fill it out completely and have your instructor and department chair sign in the appropriate places.

Program Form

This form is mandatory for scheduling your recital and must be typed to be accepted. This will allow the Program Staff to format your recital program. Please fill it out completely or attach a separate sheet with the required information. Have your instructor sign either the provided form (if completed) or your attached sheet. Make sure to read the Rules for Scheduling Recitals (PDF) to ensure your program's completion.

Reception Guidelines

Holding a reception in a Northwestern University School of Music building is a privilege, not a right. Please adhere to these guidelines.

Special Request Form

Any change to a scheduled recital must be accompanied by a Special Request Form signed by both your instructor and your department chair. This includes (but is not limited to) time changes, venue changes or date changes. The Concert Office reserves the right to decline petition if circumstances do not demonstrate exceptional need or if scheduling restraints prevent the enactment of your request.

Reserving Rehearsal or Recording Space

Bienen School of Music students may reserve up to two 2-hour sessions in Lutkin or MCR for rehearsal or recording purposes no earlier than four weeks in advance.  Students must come in person to the Concert Office during booking hours (M, T, W, F: 9 a.m. - noon; Th: 1 - 4 p.m.) to reserve time.
