Sharon Isbin with Thiago de Mello

When: Sat, Mar 31, 2012 - 7:30 pm

Where: Pick-Staiger Concert Hall

Two-time Grammy winner and acclaimed classical guitarist Sharon Isbin is regarded as “the pre-eminent guitarist of our time,” by Boston Magazine and has appeared with more than 160 orchestras, giving sold-out concerts around the globe. With a recording catalogue of over 25 albums in a multitude of styles and genres, Isbin is credited with expanding the classical guitar canon through commissions by John Corigliano, Christopher Rouse, and Joan Tower, among others. A recent collaboration with Joan Baez and Mark O’Connor on her album Journey to the New World garnered her second Grammy Award in 2010. In this performance, Isbin joins forces with world-renowned Brazilian percussionist Thiago de Mello to, in her words, “bring the rain forest and its inhabitants to life through music.” Selections include a sampling of her album Journey to the Amazon along with a few of her most favorite works.
