Founded in 1976, the European Union Youth Orchestra unites talented student and young professional musicians from all 27 European Union countries. The orchestra regularly performs worldwide and in prestigious festivals including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh Festival, the BBC Proms, and the Concertgebouw’s Robeco Summer Concert Series. Since 2000, the orchestra has been conducted by Grammy Award-winning pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy. Joining the orchestra for a special performance of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in A Minor is Jean Gimbel Lane Piano Prize winner Yefim Bronfman. The Bienen School of Music Symphonic Choir and faculty soloists will join the orchestra for Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy.
