Anoushka Shankar has been described as “a new breed of super-musician,” by the Japan Times and a “passionate innovator,” by the Sydney Morning Herald. In her latest project, “Traveler,” Shankar breaks new ground as she melds the rhythmically intense music of Spain with the vibrant, ancient forms of Indian classical tradition. Immersing herself in flamenco, fandango, and tango, Shankar crafted hybrid works that employ the traditional Indian instrumentation of sitar, tabla, and bansuri flute together with flamenco guitar, voice, and percussion. Twice a Grammy nominee, Shankar has been called “breathtaking, complex,” by the Los Angeles Times.
