Program Assistant

Base Wage: $8.25/hr. Work-study required.

Area: Administration

Supervisor: Business Manager

Functions: Create accurate and attractive concert and recital programs using Macintosh computer systems.

Hours: Expected to complete 8-10 hours of work each week scheduled by the Program Manager. Initial job training sessions will be conducted at specific times. Quarterly schedule flexible during business hours (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Specific deadlines must be met.

Responsibilities

Public Contact:
Some contact with faculty, staff, and students.

Monetary Responsibilities:
None.

Cleaning, Physical Labor, and Maintenance

  1. Keeping office and back office areas neat.
  2. Carrying boxes of programs.
  3. Filing and file maintenance.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Compile and format concert program information on Macintosh computers with InDesign software and Microsoft Word and prepare print-ready material.
  2. Type, format, photocopy, and file student recital programs.
  3. Proofread and spell-check all program documents.
  4. Prepare and distribute memos outlining program information deadlines to faculty members/ensemble directors.
  5. Enforce production deadlines.
  6. Maintain accurate production progress records.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Proficiency with Macintosh computer systems.
  2. Familiarity with InDesign software helpful.
  3. Efficiency, independence, and attention to detail.
  4. Basic knowledge of music terminology helpful.
  5. Ability to perform under deadline pressure.

 

 

Program Manager

Wage: Base $8.75/hr. Work-study required.
Area: Administration
Supervisor: Reports to Business Manager
Functions: Manage student program staff as well as perform duties of program assistant.
Hours: Expected to complete 8-15 hrs per week. Initial job training sessions will be conducted at specific times. Quarterly schedule flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Specific deadlines must be met.

Responsibilities:

  1. Some contact with faculty, staff, students, and printing vendors.

Monetary Responsibilities:

  1. None

  3. Prepare flow-chart for accurate production progress record.
  4. Assist in training new staff members.
  5. Compile and format concert program information on Macintosh computers with Adobe InDesign software.
  6. Type, format, print, and file student recital programs.
  7. Prepare and distribute memos outlining program information deadlines to faculty members/ensemble directors.
  8. Prepare InDesign archival file of yearly programs for printed book.
  9. Enforce production deadlines.
  10. Provide Business Manager with up-to-date status reports.
  11. Other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Some prior management experience helpful.
  2. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign software helpful.
  3. Efficiency, independence, and attention to detail.
