Description
Eliot Fisk is recognized worldwide for his groundbreaking transcriptions of baroque and classical works as well as his generosity in bringing music to schools, hospitals, prisons, and other unconventional venues. Many of his recordings for labels such as DGG, Arabesque, and EMI have made the Billboard charts as bestsellers, and in 2006 he was awarded the Cruz de Isabel la Católica by King Juan Carlos of Spain for his service to the cause of Spanish music. During his 2008-09 season he began a successful collaboration with fellow guitarist Angel Romero and premiered composer Robert Beaser's Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra. Germany's Passauer Neue Presse declares, "Fisk brings out melodies and voices as only a Bach or a Paganini might have intended." His program includes duo performances with his wife, guitarist Zaira Meneses-Fisk, a founding member of the Boston Guitar Quartet. Her recent achievements include a prize from Italy's Accademia Chigiana and the recording of her first solo album for GSP Publications.
Tickets are $24 for the general public, $21 for senior citizens and Northwestern faculty and staff, and $10 for students.
