Led by artistic director Daniel J. Farris, the National High School Music Institute (NHSMI) is one of seven divisions of Northwestern's National High School Institute, which enrolls approximately 700 of the nation's most accomplished high school students each summer. The highly selective music division admits approximately 180 musicians who study, participate in master classes and seminars, take field trips to premier Chicago music venues, and perform in large and small ensembles.
