Mission Statement

Operated under the auspices of the Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music, Pick-Staiger Concert Hall adheres to principles of educational opportunity and enlightenment in the composition of its programming. Concerts are designed to showcase the developing talent of Bienen School of Music students, faculty members, and professional artists lakeshoreand provide affordable cultural presentations to the surrounding community. Events at Pick-Staiger traverse the gamut of musical tastes from jazz, musical revues, and band performances to choral, orchestral, and opera productions. Concert programs typically include standard repertoire selections as well as works by less well-known composers, and the organization provides a forum for musical lectures and special interest productions. Pick-Staiger also interacts regularly with many area performing arts organizations, supplying them with both performance space and concert production services. The musical diversity of performances at Pick-Staiger provides enrichment and enjoyment for performers and audiences alike.

Situated on the western shore of Lake Michigan on Northwestern University's Evanston campus, Pick-Staiger Concert Hall was established in 1975 as the main performance venue for the School of Music. Construction of the concert hall was made possible by gifts from Albert Pick, Jr. and Charles G. Staiger and was dedicated to their wives Corinne Frada Pick and Pauline Pick Staiger. Since its inception, the hall has functioned as the concert presenter for Bienen School of Music performing ensembles, student and faculty recitalists, and a host of professional guest artists.
